When Their San Antonio Roofers Botched
The Job, Lynx Came To The Rescue!
See How We Helped Pete And His Family
Remotely Tackle Their Roofing Problems
When it’s not performed by caring professionals, a San Antonio-area metal roof replacement can go wrong in many different ways. Unfortunately, Pete E. and his family found this out for themselves when they chose a sub-par roofer for their project.
They wanted the roof of their dreams for their million-dollar custom home north of town. Instead, they got a flaw-ridden mess that came nowhere close to meeting their expectations.
Here’s the kicker. Pete and his family weren’t local to the area. This meant they had no idea where to turn to get themselves out of a serious jam.
Luckily, they had neighbors and acquaintances who could offer them some sound advice. Their recommendation? Call the metal roofing pros at Lynx Roofing.
Pete wasn’t in town, but that didn’t stop our co-owner, Chris, from offering his expertise. ASAP, he inspected the roof and came up with a proposal to replace it.
Soon, Pete signed off on the plan remotely and our team of specialists got to work. Under Chris’s watchful eye, they carried out a truly meticulous installation job.
What did Pete think of the finished product? He hasn’t stopped singing our praises yet. In fact, he’s become one of our greatest sources of customer referrals!

Pete’s Original San Antonio-Area Roofer Falls Short
It’s easier than you might think to pick the wrong provider for a roof replacement. That’s especially true in Texas, where professional standards for roofers remain painfully low.
When Pete needed a metal roof for his new custom-built home, he reached out to the wrong provider. For the job, this provider chose Galvalume metal panels as their product option.
In the right installers’ hands, this might not have been a terrible choice. After all, Galvalume is an industry standard for metal roofing.
But the original roofers made two key mistakes. First, they used 26-gauge Galvalume, not the substantially stronger 24-gauge version of the product. Even worse, their efforts to install this metal roofing were less than stellar, to say the least.
The end result for Pete? A brand-new roof with notable condition issues.
The biggest of these issues was oil canning. That’s the industry term for metal roof panels with visible waves or distortions running across their surface. This problem is particularly common in 26-gauge roofs.
But oil canning wasn’t the only concern. In addition, the roof panels had other visible blemishes that further worsened their appearance.
Needless to say, when Pete saw photos of the finished work, he was upset. He was also in a major bind.
Since the roof was still technically sound, he couldn’t get his insurer involved in the situation. What’s more, the company that installed the roof flat-out refused to redo it!
That’s when Pete turned to his neighbors and local acquaintances for help. Fortunately, they’d heard of Lynx Roofing, and steered him in our direction.
Chris And Our Roof Replacement Team Step Up
When many San Antonio-area homeowners think of Lynx Roofing, the first thing that comes to mind is asphalt shingles. That makes sense since we’re highly regarded for our shingle installations.
But asphalt roofing isn’t all we do. We’re also metal roofing specialists.
In 2024, we worked on just as many metal roof replacement projects as asphalt shingle projects. What’s more, Chris is known in local roofers’ circles as a go-to resource on all things metal.
Our metal installation crew operates from its own separate facility. And on every job, we use 24-gauge panels, which are more than 20% thicker than their flimsier 26-gauge counterparts. In all cases, these panels come from the industry’s most respected manufacturers.
So, when Pete’s call came in, we knew exactly what to do.
First came our roof inspection. During this inspection, Chris readily spotted the use of cheaper, less reliable roof panels. He also saw that the original roofers failed to follow the manufacturer’s specifications when installing those panels.
Chris quickly relayed his findings to Pete, who couldn’t come to the home himself. We also sent a detailed proposal for installing a far superior replacement roof.
To Pete’s credit, he didn’t take our word for granted. This time around, he ran the proposal past some professional construction engineers.
The engineers were impressed. It was obvious to them that Chris knew what he was doing. It was also obvious that Lynx Roofing passed the test for roofing professionalism.
With this vote of confidence to back them up, Pete and his wife remotely signed their contract with us. Next, it was time to get their replacement project underway.

A Vastly Improved Roofing Project Outcome
On the scheduled day, Chris and our specialized crew arrived at Pete’s home. Their first task was removing the existing, faulty roof. With that job out of the way, it was on to our installation phase.
Over the next few days, Chris remained onsite as the work proceeded. Our crew would’ve done a great job in any circumstances, but we wanted Pete to have that extra peace of mind. Throughout the process, Chris provided him with regular updates and let him know things were going according to plan.
The situation was still nerve-wracking for Pete. That’s understandable, considering what he’d already been through. But we did our very best to assure him that his nightmare was behind him.
In the end, Pete was overjoyed with the fruits of our labor. He soon started recommending that everyone he knows come to us to meet their roofing needs. And he hasn’t stopped since!
