It Took Skill And Patience, But We Helped
Debra Get Just What She Needed For
Her San Antonio Roof Replacement
Going Beyond Expectations Was The
Only Way To Support Our Customer
Everyone in need of a San Antonio-area roof replacement hopes that the process goes smoothly. But unfortunately, not everyone’s journey is this straightforward.
Take local resident Debra K., for example.
Debra was sure that, given her situation, replacing her roof would be a snap. But her insurer had other ideas. In fact, they denied her coverage not once, not twice, but three times.
Fortunately, Lynx Roofing was there to play the supporting role permitted under Texas state law.
With our help, Debra endured these repeated rejections. And, much later than anyone expected, she got the new roof she needed.
To say it took persistence on our part is an understatement. But coming through for our customers is always job number one.
Debra Requests A Roof Repair
In early 2024, Debra called us out to fix a roof leak in her million-dollar local home. When we arrived on-site, we were surprised by what we found.
The roof was apparently just six or seven years old. Nevertheless, it was in bad shape.
There was only one explanation for the premature problems we saw – a subpar initial installation.
We told Debra what we’d found and informed her that a roof replacement was in the cards sooner rather than later. However, she wasn’t ready to take on this expense just yet. So, she opted for a roof repair as a short-term fix.
To be honest, Debra didn’t love the results.
The reason? Even with our advanced skills, we couldn’t make the repaired areas blend completely with the surrounding materials. Still, she knew we had done our best and signed off on the job.
The Expected Call For A Roof Replacement
Before leaving Debra’s home that first time, we told her to call us when the next heavy storms hit.
Why? We were certain her roof wouldn’t hold up to another serious beating.
As it turns out, we were right. A year later, we got the call.
Debra’s roof was severely damaged and leaking water in multiple locations. To make matters even worse, many of her asphalt shingles had simply blown away.
Our immediate task was tarping Debra’s roof so no more water could reach her interior spaces. When this job was done, she and her husband prepared for the next step – filing a claim with their insurance company.
Debra’s Insurer Denies Her Roof Damage Claim
By law, Lynx and other Texas roofing companies play a limited role in the insurance filing process. In this role, we use our expertise to assess a roof’s condition. The homeowner then includes this assessment with their roofing claim.
Deb and her husband were positive their situation was a no-brainer.
After all, we clearly documented their roof’s poor condition. What’s more, their insurer, USAA, is well-known for a relatively trouble-free filing process in most situations.
Unfortunately, none of that mattered. USAA denied their roof replacement claim.
Multiple Roof Inspections And Claim Filings
To say that Debra and her husband were shocked is an understatement. They simply had no idea why their claim was rejected.
Neither did we.
Still, we let them know we were happy to perform a second roof inspection. The couple could then use the results as part of their effort to convince USAA to reverse its decision.
That’s just what they did. Then the second denial came, and the third, each from a different insurance company claims adjuster.
In desperation, Debra and her husband asked a high-level USAA manager to see the roof for themselves.
And suddenly, the dam broke. The manager approved their claim, and shortly thereafter, we installed a brand-new roof worthy of their high-end home.

A Hard-Fought Success In The San Antonio Area
Multiple times throughout this ordeal, we encouraged Debra and her husband to stay the course and follow the process.
It wasn’t easy on any of us.
The couple spent months with a roof covered in temporary tarps. And the lack of a prompt conclusion surely wore their patience down to the bone.
As for Lynx, we ultimately visited Debra’s home more than two dozen times. And along the way, any real profit from the eventual replacement job vanished into thin air.
Nonetheless, we stuck to our governing ethos – help your customer whenever and however you can.

Another Satisfied Lynx Roofing Customer
The best part? At the end of the day, Debra and her husband loved the work we did for them.
Not only did they sing our praises on the popular neighborhood social media app, Nextdoor. They’ve started referring us in person to other local homeowners.
